Course objective
 

A thematic approach to gain an up-to-date overview of current French society and its challenges.

It is also an excellent opportunity to practice commenting on graphs, tables and figures.

Course Content
 

The course studies the different aspects of contemporary society that have a direct influence on the daily life of residents in France: the political system and the influence of different actors (parties, unions, citizens’ organizations), the role of the media, the educational system, the place of religions in France and secularism “à la française”, demographic data, the French social welfare system, economic data, administrative organization, energy sources, leisure activities, gastronomy, how to choose wine.… etc….

Teaching materials

A full screen vivid presentation with many pictures and videos, and at the end of the course, a complete summary with many links to explore medias, articles, and documentary and fiction movies.

All class material is provided by the teacher.

Practical information

Duration of each class: 2.5 hours per session.

Modality: Pedagogy adapted to videoconferencing

Levels: B2 to C2.
